How to Keep Your Shelby Home Comfortable This Winter

March 15, 2017

Maintaining your furnace is imperative to keeping it operating well and keeping you and your family warm during the Shelby colder months. If you already called Hopper Heating and Air for your annual service, you’re definitely on top of things. If you haven’t, it’s not too late. Give us a call at 704-233-7363 to get one set-up.

There are lots of simple things you can do in between pro tune-ups to increase the efficiency of your furnace and keep it running in tip top shape. Try these furnace maintenance tips:

  • Yes, we’ve said it before, but we can’t stress this enough: check your filters frequently and clean or replace them when suggested. This is such a simple way to enhance the airflow through your furnace and uphold peak efficiency.
  • Keep all your vents and cool air returns clear of barriers. This includes keeping any ventilation outside of your home clear.
  • Test your thermostat regularly to ensure it’s working appropriately. Just turn it on and gradually increase the temperature setting until you catch your furnace turn on. If it doesn’t turn on, check back to our blog post on furnace repair for additional thermostat tips, or give us a call.
  • If you observe dust accumulating around your cool air returns or a great deal of debris within your ducts, contemplate having your ducts efficiently cleaned. To find out more about duct cleaning and how to tell if it’s time to hire someone, look at our blog on duct cleaning.
